THE FUTURE IS GREEN Clark College will join 1,750 colleges across the country in a national teach-in on global warming – the largest national teach-in in history VANCOUVER, Wash. – Clark College, along with more than 1,750 colleges, will participate
in a national teach-in on global warming – the single largest national teach-in in
history. According to biology professor Rebecca Martin, the college will focus on increasing individual awareness of global warming issues. All participants will be encouraged to calculate their carbon footprint. Computers to calculate online footprints will be available in the Gaiser Student Center at the Green Information Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will receive a reusable shopping bag for completing the footprint assessment. Faculty presenters, community agency panelists and the college's debate team will address issues and solutions related to global warming. Video presentations addressing climate change around the world will be shown throughout the day. Many faculty members will open their classrooms at all three of Clark’s campuses and facilities (main campus, Clark College at Town Plaza, Clark College at WSU Vancouver) to address climate change in the context of their discipline. At 2 p.m., Clark College President Robert K. Knight will hold a forum on sustainability at the college. That session will take place in the Penguin Student Lounge, located in the Penguin Union Building. Clark College is located at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver. -30- |
